January Poker News
21st of January, 2006 - There's a £1000 poker tournament being held in Luton on the 21st, as of 7.16 am it's a coin flip whether I'll play. It's difficult to get motivated to play in Luton (it's not Paris, that's for sure). My trip to Los Angeles is 100% on. I will be playing the LA Poker Classic, which spans over most over February. I'll arrive on the 4th, leave a few days to get the jet lag out of this system and then hit Commerce Casino on the 6th for the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em tournament. The main reason behind the trip is the World Poker Tour event, which kicks off on the 19th. The winner is expected to scoop in excess of $2 million, hence the reason I purchased an extra suit-case! Poker aside, it's going to be great fun.
8th of January, 2006 - Well, 2006 didn't blast-off as expected. I had an absolute nightmarish time in Paris for the Euro Finals of Poker. My credit card was placed under a security check less than an hour before the €5000 tournament. However, I could withdraw cash but not pay for anything! It was quite embarrassing, €500 attempted withdrawals were being declined. Thankfully, I've been quite a familiar face at the Aviation Club de France in the past year. The floor manager recognized me from the WPT Paris and offered the opportunity to pay through Neteller. (Continued: Euro Finals of Poker)
When it rains, it pours. The European Poker Tour Copenhagen event is sold out. This is startling as generally the EPT turn outs have been very poor, with the exception of EPT Barcelona. Hopefully the online poker rooms have over-booked seats and one will become available, if not, the LA Poker Classic looks good. Having never been to Los Angeles, this would be ideal timing to visit. Alternatively, I could visit my brother on the other side of the globe, then again, poker is illegal in Japan.
2nd of January, 2006 - I hope everyone enjoyed the New Years celebrations! This year is make or break time for me as a professional poker player. My goal for 2006 is to make a minimum of $1,000,000 profits purely from poker. January is going to be hectic, starting off with a trip to Paris on the 7th. I'm playing in the Euro Finals of Poker, which is €5000 No Limit Texas Hold'em tournament at the Aviation Club de France. I expect the EFOP (not as catchy as WSOP) will have a small field but hopefully there will be a 6-figure pay day for the winner. On the 17th I'm flying to Copenhagen, Denmark, to play the European Poker Tour Scandinavian event. Copenhagen Casino have forecast a €400,000 1st place, winning this would help accomplish the goal of becoming a ($) millionaire. I'll buy a digital camera, which should bring my poker trip reports to life.
