May Poker News

27th of May, 2006 - I can successfully say that I have caught up with practically all of my unanswered emails. Last week I discovered a few hundred legitimate emails had mistakenly been placed in my spam folder. Problem resolved. However, the problem of consistently cashing in poker tournaments hasn't, but that should all change on Friday. There's a £750 Double Chance Tournament at Napoleon's Casino in Sheffield. The structure appears to be excellent, with T10,000 starting chips and 45 minutes blind levels should provide plenty of deep stacked action to build a monster chip stack. Let's hope I can contain my need to take on the World and try and outplay everybody post-flop. ONE TIME BABY!

21st of May, 2006 - I apologize if you've sent me an email recently (which isn't selling Viagra etc) and haven't received a reply, the anti-spam blocker on my email address has horded literally hundreds of legitimate emails. I'll catch up over the next week, but please resend anything important.

15th of May, 2006 - This last week I've been like a fish out of water, no internet = no online poker! The £1000 Blackpool Bonanza tournament didn't go so well, I bluffed of an average stack versus a calling station in a moment of stupidity after playing excellent poker for 5 hours. The misery was compounded by Blackpool Grosvenor Casino screwing my friend (Sam) out of £900 after he hit a number on the roulette table. Maximum bet per number was £50 and he split £100 on 8-11, the ball landed on 8. The croupier paid him out £1800 and then checked with the pit boss, who said "What are you doing?". Check this, max bet on a split was £50!!! The pit boss pointed at a transparent plaque with miniscule text. Ridiculously, they took £900 back. Oddly, they didn't point that out when Sam was splitting £100 and not hitting. To cap it off, the manager came out of her hole and with a stinking attitude basically told us to F off.

Other news, I'm not going to Barcelona this week as I haven't renewed my passport in time for the Heads Up Poker Tournament, settling instead for some smaller tournaments in Sheffield, which start on the 24th. There's a PokerRoom reload bonus available until the 21st.

5th of May, 2006 - This Saturday there's a £1000 tournament at the Grosvenor Casino in Blackpool, England. The tournament structure is decent with 10,000 starting stacks and an hour clock, another plus point is that the field is limited to 180 entrants, which is great considering my record in big field multi-table tournaments is below par. If you're interested in following the tournament, Blonde Poker are doing live updates on their forum, which are always action packed and entertaining.
