December Poker News
December 28th, 2007
I'm going to be launching a new poker website next month. I was planing to change VentureAce.com, but it houses some good content that people enjoy reading and can learn from. So, the new website is going to placed on V2Poker.com. I will go in to more detail closer to the opening. Anyway, look out for it and have a good new year celebration!

I read some sad news that Chip Reese died yesterday. Last year. I had the pleasure of playing with him in a sit and go in Los Angeles. In fact he knocked me out in 4th place. Monster hands - my J6c versus K8, all-in pre-flop. The flop came in 236 with 2 clubs and I thought it was double up time. The river hit an 8 and that was the end of that. Chip Reese showed no emotion, nothing, completely impassive.
I can't believe he was only 56, I wonder what his eyes saw during his life time. A fascinating character. RIP.

I received a weird email from Ultimate Bet a few days ago. The jist of it was that there were going to give me free entry in to a few of the big tournaments being held this week. Unfortunately, many people have no clue how to communicate effectively to acheive their set goal.
"Hello Thomas, >> >> It was great speaking with you today and once again I do appreciate >> your time!"
Well, considering I never spoke to any one, though someone did phone my mobile at 4 AM (sorry Sam, I had to ask as you're the only one who ever calls at that time), this was very bizarre. A few months ago DTD Poker tried the trick, claiming my account has been closed by my request and they were simply enquiring whether I would like to re-open it with a nice deposit bonus to boot. "I'll think about it."
Back to UB, they offered to give me $4,300 in tourney entry fees if I deposited $20K. Which begged the question "Are there any requirements?".
The reply, "Pretty much is just to make the deposit but before you make the deposit in case you doing it please let me know so I can hook you up and there will be no problems." This is copied as it arrived my inbox. Seriously, I knew they were struggling with legislation but damn, hire someone who doesn't write like a chimp. How can they expect me deposit?
PS. If any one wants to take advantage of this promo, feel free to use my account in exchange for 15% of winnings.
