Andy Black became a household name after his final table appearance at the World Series of Poker main event in 2005. He collected $1,750,000 for his efforts that week, and was undoubtedly the best player at the final table. It wasn’t his first time he went deep in the World Series of Poker Main Event though. In 1997, he finished 14th picking up just under $30,000. After this achievement Black took a hiatus from poker to become a Buddhist monk (seriously). He returned to the poker table a few years later and has been successful ever since.

Andy Black was at my table during the WPT Paris event in 2005. He quickly established a loose aggressive game which rapidly made him the chip leader. In the serious environment of high stakes poker he tried to have fun at the table by telling jokes continuously and impressively still managed to maintain a high level of concentration. A decent poker player and gentleman.
