Lee Watkinson

Lee Watkinson is a professional poker player who won the WSOP $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha in 2006. Along with the $655,000 for 1st place, Watkinson won a coveted WSOP bracelet, which he narrowly missed out on when he finished 2nd in the same event in 2004. Lee Watkinson has reached to final tables of the Wold Poker Tour in 2004, each time being knocked out in 2nd place. The first time at the Mirage Poker Showdown, Watkinson was runner-up to Eli Elezra. A month later, he was bridesmaid in the Legends of Poker, losing heads up to Doyle Brunson. Those 2 WPT final table appearances earned Watkinson over $1,100,000.

I played briefly with Lee Watkinson during the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event at the LA Poker Classic. He seemed uninterested in the tournament and played very tight passive, which took me by surprise as I was aware of his incredible poker background. He was busted early, when his pocket jacks ran in to pocket Kings. I also played with his girlfriend (or wife) during the second stage of the $500 shoot-out, she seemed overly-friendly, and even bizarrely handed out candy to all the players at the table. I questioned her motives at the time but have since seen the ESPN episode of Lee Watkinson's WSOP Omaha victory, where they showed a clip of the couple building a sanctuary to house unwanted chimpanzees.
