Rob Yong
Rob Yong is a business man and poker player from Nottingham, England. Yong reached the final table of the 2006 EPT Dublin, winning just shy of 90,000. His other notable poker tournament successes include a 2nd place finish at Midlands Meltdown in Walsall.
Rob Yong is currently underway building a large poker room in his home city of Nottingham. The club, to be named Dusk Till Dawn, will also have an online poker website (dtdpoker.com), where players will be able to satellite in to live events at DTD.
I first played with Rob Yong in a cash game during the 2004 EPT Dublin. Somehow I mistook his Nottingham accent to be cockney. Memorably, he turned quads against a man with pocket Queens, after the hand I was thinking, “Holy shit, he played that well, I’d never put him quads.” Those were the days… easy, rock-tight nut-peddling. The second time I played with Rob Yong, was during a £150 Pot Limit Hold’em rebuy in Sheffield. He flipped out and went berserk after the dealer mucked his Ace Queen, which he had turned face up. By that time, he’d already invested 90% of chips on an Ace-high uncoordinated board. The tournament director made a very cruel but ultimately correct decision and sided with the dealer.
