EPT Barcelona
Barcelona is the first venue on the EPT calendar, historically starting in September. Players pony up €5,000 to participate in the event. The EPT Barcelona tournament in 2005 & 2006 had an excellent structure, with starting stacks of 10,000 chips and blind increases each hour. The tournament is hosted at the Gran Casino de Barcelona. Set in the Olympic Port it provides plenty of action for the avid gambler and those online poker players who are taking a vacation. Players can qualify for EPT Barcelona through Poker Stars or one of the many satellites held at the Gran Casino de Barcelona leading up to the EPT Barcelona tournament. Preliminary tournaments are played in the week prior to the main event, ranging from €200 rebuy tournaments to a €1,000 Freeze-Out. Cash games and single table tournaments are available every day. Registration for the tournament is a breeze, however players are required to register with the casino beforehand and sign in each time they play, which requires photo identification. A poker player card is needed to reach the poker room on the bottom floor. The EPT Barcelona minimum age is 18.
EPT Barcelona Hotels
Hotels in Barcelona are reasonably priced in comparison to it's expensive EPT neighbors Paris and London. Staying close to the Casino isn't a necessity as Barcelona's transport system is very good and cheap, notably the efficient tram system. The Olympic Port in which Casino de Barcelona is located is a fashionable area, hence Hotel prices there are slightly more expensive than other areas of the city. Things to do in Barcelona when your not playing poker
Barcelona boasts some of Europe's coolest beaches. The sand and sea isn't the cleanest, but the atmosphere especially in the areas where music is played has a great vibe. The casino is practically on the beach, so if your the recipient of a bad beat, relaxation and recover starts here. If you need to chill out more, there are countless cafes on the seafront overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Take a stroll, Barcelona is adorned with diverse architecture and daring sculptures.
